Can you really cut it online and be successful?

Posted by Bill Masson on July 17, 2008

Here are some quick ways to get started

So you want to be successful online

I can dig that, but there is a right way and a wrong way to go about it. First of all you have to do your homework and that means research, get a feel for what’s out there, don’t take shortcuts because it will only cost you wasted time in the long run.

There are several categories in the home business group,

So you need to narrow the choice down to just one category to start with. Concentrate on this category and give it your full undivided attention, a good idea is to look for an established newsletter to subscribe to, you’ll want a newsletter that will give you the information that you require specifically on your chosen category. Here is my suggestion; if you check out the eBusiness Centre you will find experts in all areas in home business, there are 24 leading marketers to choose from and if they don’t cover what you’re looking for then it’s not worth talking about.

Get yourself hooked up to the paymasters

and by this I mean all the must have memberships; for example- PayPal, Google, Clickbank, Amazon, Yahoo, Feedburner for RSS feeds, Article Marketer if you want to write articles. If you’re not already a member of a social network then sign up to at least two or three of the more popular sites like My Space, FaceBook and Digg, a useful place to find all the top social sites are socialmarker.com and socialposter.com these two are particularly useful for posting bookmarks and articles, they will save you a lot of time.

Get a couple of extra email accounts

For all the junk mail- at Google or Yahoo, believe me you will need them, and keep your personal email account personal. Look for a good auto responder service this will be invaluable for setting up newsletters or eZines and is a huge time saver, in fact no self respecting marketer would be without one.

If you join any affiliate program

Stick to it for at least a month and give it your best shot by promoting through articles and blogs as well as emails and social networks. A good place to start promoting and building links and leads is the Leads Leap affiliate web site. Look for a program that has plenty of marketing materials for you to promote the product.

Get yourself into the groove

Practice good habits make a plan of attack and set short term goals and long term goals.

· D Do not take on too many affiliate programs, start with just one and see how you fair; you will see better results in concentrating your efforts on one venture to start with.

· Don’t lose sight of your goals get organised, use the right tools there are an abundance of free resources on the web for you to utilize and make your task easier.

· Do not delay or hold back on promoting yourself or your product, the more you delay means less chance of succeeding.

· Our time is precious so good time management is a must, try and balance the various demands in your life. Don’t overdo it, get some exercise and take regular breaks or you might end up with an ulcer.

· Make use of the many knowledge resources that are available and improve yourself, the more knowledge you possess the more successful you will be.

· Do keep up with your friends and family and share your successes with them, they will surely encourage you to new heights.

· I  In the end you reap what you sow, the sense of achievement is a great feeling to have, remember above all enjoy your journey and have fun.

Ad tracker Is Key in the Affiliate Marketers tool box

Posted by Bill Masson on July 17, 2008

There’s a lot of money in affiliate marketing. This is true, however, only to those are seriously and zealously working on their affiliate program. Success in affiliate marketing varies in every individual affiliate and for the most part, it depends on his will and perseverance. No matter how good an affiliate program is, it will not take off if the affiliate marketer does not put in the hard work. One has to exert extra effort especially on promotion. Nothing will happen if your links or banners just lie idle on a web page; an affiliate must be able to convince the visitor to click it and proceed to the business site and buy the products. No click-through means no income for an affiliate marketer.

You can actually generate a full-time income by means of affiliate marketing and you can do it at home, and yes, even while you sleep. You must have a good web site to begin with. It must have good promotional and informative contents, pleasing design, inviting banner ads and all the other important elements in an affiliate marketer’s site or blog. You must also use other means of advertising such as newsletters, email marketing and, message boards, don’t forget the social network sites and ad listings such as Google Ad Words. All of these steps are important for the development of your marketing program.

So once you have organised your affiliate program and have taken all the steps towards success carefully and diligently you will to need to track your campaign. Now, there’s a tool you can use to help you go through the program with ease and confidence, the Ad Tracker. For many experienced and successful affiliate marketers, the Ad Tracker is the key to a successful affiliate marketing program.

What precisely is an ad tracker? It is a marketing tracking software or program that allows you to trace and take note of every click-through made by visitors of your site and by other customers who got your referral link. You can use ad tracking services as well, but this will of course cost you. With the ad tracker, you can keep an eye on the progress of your marketing campaigns even offline. This tool or program is especially helpful if you are engaged in several affiliate and pay-per-click programs and have placed ads in emails, pop-ups and pop-unders, message boards, auto responders, Ezines, forums, several web sites, surveys and various ad service providers.

Remember you don’t want all of your efforts to be put to waste so you want to make sure you are getting paid for your hard work and that you’re in control. Likewise, you will want to make sure every dollar or Euro you spend in your advertising campaigns is wisely spent. With the help of the ad tracker, you will know accurately how many and which of your links where clicked on, how many clicked on your links, how many of your emails were opened and how many of those who opened your email clicked through to your business site and purchased a product, how many products were purchased, which of your banner ads or links brought in the most leads and sales and many other vital facts and figures.

Sales records and all data stated are necessary in any business as this could determine if your affiliate program is still worth continuing. This will also help you determine which of your marketing strategies are most effective and which are most beneficial for each product or service that you are promoting.
Every decision and plan you make must be well grounded on facts. Your decision or plan of action may not be the best, but it is important not to lose your momentum. You can’t just decide to terminate your affiliate program, just because you don’t earn big in an instant.

If you are serious with affiliate marketing, again and again, keep in mind that your success is mainly on promotion and your hard work. If your campaign doesn’t produce results or encourage your prospects to buy, don’t be disheartened and jump to the conclusion that your affiliate program is a failure. If it works for others, it will work for you. Find out whether your advertising techniques are effective or not, which works best for your program and which doesn’t.

An ad tracker is a powerful tool and used wisely will pay you back a 100 times over, what’s that old saying? “Information is King” You can’t survive without it believe me.

Nobody said it would be a walk in the park

Posted by Bill Masson on July 15, 2008

Kenth Koh
Helping you to increase your web site traffic has always been my top priority and today, I’m going to share with you my best kept secrets to increase web site traffic from scratch.
Like many of you, I started my career in internet marketing with little knowledge, no JV partner, no internet marketing friend and I didn’t pay thousands of dollars to attend any seminar on internet marketing. I started from scratch, learning the ropes by reading tons of ebooks and email newsletters (blog wasn’t popular when I started online).
Leads Leap Boosts your sales

Bill Masson’s comment
There is a very interesting read over at Kenneth Koh’s Leads Leap Blog which goes into detail of how he started his online career. It just goes to show if you put in the hard work and research your niche the rewards will come. I myself have had to struggle down a very similar path, so when people ask me if I can help then personally I get a little bit frustrated because there is no quick fix for success. When you have the right mind set go at it and assert yourself to the task, remember it’s not a 100 metre sprint it’s more of a paced out affair.

But I have to say if you approach your task in the right way from the beginning then things will get progressively easier. Being organised is definitely a plus but rushing in wily nilly is not recommended. When I first started out I signed up for numerous newsletters and JVs to get close to the big marketers, this gave me a real insight into the concept and workings of the experts.

If you read any newsletter or email from a top marketer then you will see the true art of selling, great copywriting is essential and the size of the message is important to. I know that when I get a particular email from a marketer that is way too long and full of affiliate links I just trash it because I just can’t be bothered to read it, but if the message is short concise and to the point then it will grab my attention.

So to conclude it needs a sensible approach with a measured and well organised plan of attack.

Need I say more, if you agree or disagree with me then please leave a comment,

Take a Leaf out of Mathews Tree

Posted by Bill Masson on July 13, 2008

Just a quick note on “MyBlogLog Free Marketing” which fellow marketer Mathew Castro compiled and wrote recently. Mathew kindly gave me a copy to see what I thought, now initially one of my concerns was his constant referral to Seth Godin, now there’s nothing wrong with mentioning a fellow marketer but I just felt hay who is selling this eBook him or you. So my point was sell yourself and your idea, but anyway that’s just a minor point, the concept is crystal clear.

The real message is quite evident to see and I agree with Mathew that most bloggers don’t really get the point. The thing is; I’m not having a go at anybody, it’s a free internet but as Mathew says in his book there is a point to building up your community in a way that benefits you more. Don’t just go around blindly adding contacts and communities so that you get some nice eye candy for your blog.gnome-apps

Anybody can build up contacts and communities it doesn’t take that much effort the real peach is adding value to your group. That being said you still have to earn right “yes your dammed right Sherlock”. So part of that value can be added by conversing and gaining popularity, Search engines love blogs and the more comments that you leave on other blogs the more back links you get thus gaining favour with the Search Engines.

How you can avoid home business scams

Posted by Bill Masson on July 13, 2008

By Lars Hanning

If you’re thinking of working from home you have to realize that at least 99% of the offers out there are scams. Now if it was really so easy to pay a few dollars and make thousands, wouldn’t everyone be doing it by now?
Here are the biggest scams out there, how to recognize them, and how to avoid them.

First where did you see the "Big Money" work from home offer? If you received it in your email, saw a poster tacked to a bulletin board or one of those little signs on the side of the road then I can almost guarantee you that it’s not a legitimate offer. If you saw an ad in a newspaper, a job magazine or on a job website, then it’s more likely to be legitimate but not always. Remember always check out any offer, and assume it’s a scam until you have proof it’s not.

Envelope Stuffing is one of the most established work from home scams. The way it works is once you pay your money and sign up to work from home, you are sent a set of envelopes and ads just like the one you responded to. Then you stuff your envelopes and pay to send them out. You could make some money if someone responds to your ad but the chances are slim. Don’t waste your money on this one.
Home assemblers wanted.

Charging for supplies are hard to pin down to any one scam it’s the way almost all work at home scams work. First you will be asked invest in the materials needed to do the work and then you will be sent very cheap materials that aren’t worth anything like what you paid for them. Once the product is assembled you’ll find that there’s no one who will buy it.

Quick tip: If anyone asks for money up front run away fast. A real company should be willing to deduct any ‘fees’ from your first pay check. If they won’t do that for you, then that’s because they don’t ever plan to pay you.
A variation on the scam common with crafts is that you might be asked to work at home making clothes, ornaments or toys. Everything seems legitimate you’ve got the materials without paying out any money, and you’re doing the work.
Unfortunately for you, when you send the work back, the company will tell you that it didn’t meet their ‘quality standards’, and will refuse to pay you. Never do craft work from home unless you’re selling the items yourself.

Now let’s discuss home typing and medical billing scams. There are lots of work from home scams that will lead you to believe that they have more work than they can handle so they need people to work from home. What will happen? You will be told that you would be typing documents, or entering medical bills into a computer. These scams have one thing in common. They say all you need is your computer and then all you have to do is buy their special software to do the job.
This software might appear to be from a completely unrelated company, but don’t be fooled. The whole reason the work from home ad was there to begin with was a sneaky way to sell you their software.

I hope this helps you see running a home business that involves you working for one company is a bad idea.
You don’t know whom you’re dealing with. Remember even with entirely legal work at home offers that does pay you for your work, you still won’t make near as much money as you can with your very own home business.

Pause for thought; People need to understand that when you start your online business “doing your homework and researching the program is vital”, when some just give up after a short time and then complain that it was a scam; the truth is they never really gave it a chance in the first place.
